Obituary for Constance M Raymond
Constance M. Raymond (Scarano), aged 98, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at her home on January 19, 2024.
Born on September 8, 1925, in Middletown, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Scarano.
Constance, a pillar of strength and compassion, is lovingly remembered by her children, Connie Raymond and her partner Jimmy Schoenleber, Susan Rufo, David Raymond and wife Lorraine, and Patricia Wendland and husband Rick. She was a cherished grandmother to Tara, David, Elizabeth, Sarah, Matthew, Michael, Bryan, and Emily; and a treasured great-grandmother to her 14 great-grandchildren. Constance's legacy also lives on through her brothers, Dominic and Louis Scarano. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her sister Angelina Sugrue, and son-in-law Peter Rufo.
A graduate of Middletown High School, Constance graduated a year early alongside her sister Angie in 1942. She furthered her education at St. Mary's Nursing School in Brooklyn, graduating in 1946. Her dedication to nursing led her back to Middletown, where she embarked on a distinguished 43-year career at Horton Memorial Hospital, including time as a Director of Nursing and retiring as Patient Advocate.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on January 25, at St. Joseph's Church in Middletown. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on January 24, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Ave Middletown, NY 10940.
Constance will be eternally remembered for her profound love of family and friends, her kind heart and generous spirit, and her unwavering commitment to caring for others. Her remarkable life, filled with love, service, and devotion, leaves a memorable mark on all who were fortunate to know her.
