Obituary for Concettina Magri Cerasoli
Concettina Magri Cerasoli, an area resident, died November 21, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old. The daughter of the late Rocco and Jenny Magri, Tina was born April 10, 1920 in New York City. She studied piano at the Juilliard School of Music graduating in 1941, and completed her graduate degree at Columbia University.

After graduation, Tina taught music at Blessed Sacrament School in Yonkers. In 1945 she married Arnold J. Cerasoli MD, an Army Captain in the Medical Corps. They lived in Mt. Vernon NY for 25 years and raised three daughters. During that time, Tina taught music at St. Ursula’s elementary school, and sang in the church choir.

In addition to her love for music, Tina was an avid cook, and greatly enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Twice, she was invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York City. She loved to read, had an extensive culinary library and wrote a family cook book. She vacationed often in Vermont with her family, and enjoyed many culinary trips to Italy.

Her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Flavia Marisca of Asbury Park, NJ; three daughters, Cecilia Cerasoli of Charleston, S.C., Camille Meola and her husband Alfred, of Port Chester, Genevieve Cerasoli and her husband John Maraldo, of Circleville; four grandchildren Flavia Feltner, Dena McConnell, Sally Maraldo, Michael Maraldo; and two great-grandchildren, Cecilia Ann and Robert Sean Feltner.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Bullville. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tina’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
