Obituary for Clarice P Brockman
Clarice P. Brockman passed away on the evening of Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, NY. Clarice was born on January 11, 1933 to the late James Carlyle and Alice (Young) Cheeks in Whitakers, North Carolina. She is pre-deceased by her husband Macklong Brockman WWII veteran US Navy.
Clarice moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1952 to start a live-in position. On September 2, 1967 she married Mack Brockman, in Mount Vernon, NY.
She worked as a housekeeper for Dennis James, game show host for nighttime Price is Right and Name That Tune. She also worked for television host Ed Sullivan. She was also a home health aide for five years and worked in the kitchen at Holy Child Infirmary in Rye, New York.
Clarice was known to be very friendly, generous, neighborly and had a good sense of humor. Mom was known to have some unique sayings, such as: “over yonder”, “I bet you a dollar to a donut” and “grandma reads a lot to keep her brain hot.”
Mom/grandma was also good for giving her children and grandchildren nicknames: Clarice/Beanie, Sharon/Sharon Lee, Walter/Boone, Veronica/Ronnie, Maxine/Cine, Monique/Neeka, Kim/Punkie, Rolanda/Miss Sass, Trevor/Hatchett Head, Rosalyn/Red, and Tyarra/Tee.
Clarice leaves to cherish her memory; five daughters, Clarice M. Patrick (James) of Winston-Salem, NC, Sharon L. Gunter (Vic) of Middletown, NY, Veronica M. Canaday (Mickel) of Midlothian, VA, Maxine D. Cubit of Hartsdale, NY, Kimberly J. Brockman of El Cajon, CA. Two sons: Walter G. Gunter of Ellenville, NY (Melissa), and Michael Brockman of Albany, NY. Nine grandchildren; Rolanda, Trevor, Jenna, Tyarra, Jonathan, Carlton, Dylan, Wayne, Bethany, and eleven great grandchildren.
Clarice is pre-deceased by one brother Owen Cheeks, one daughter Anna Monique Brockman and three grandchildren Aaron and Rosalyn Gunter, and Steven Brockman.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024 9:00 Am to 11:00am.
