Charles Kulzer, a retired NYPD officer and a resident of the area for over 30 years, died on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 68.
The son of Frank and Rose Hoesch Kulzer, he was born on March 28, 1949 in New York City. On September 22, 1985, he married his longtime friend, Patricia Curley in New York City. He retired from his NYPD service in 1980 and he and Pat moved to the Middletown area. He was a quiet man who loved spending time with his niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia at home; his parents Frank and Rose of Florida; and his mother-in-law, Jacqueline Curley of Queens, NY; one brother, Frank and his wife Fran of Hollywood, FL; brother-in-law Edward Curley and his wife Barbara of East Northport, L.I.; his niece and nephews, Frank and his wife Liz, Richard and his wife Michelle; and John and Samantha Curley. He is also survived by his great nieces, Michaela and Carol Rose and a great-nephew, Jacob, and his best friend and former partner, Ted Hagen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 pm at the funeral home.
Cremation will be private.
