Obituary for Charles G. Winner
Charles G. “Bud” Winner, a lifetime Middletown resident, passed away comfortably on May 5, 2021 at Nyack Montifiore Hospital in Nyack, NY. He was 75.
The son of the late Charles Raymond Winner and Vera Keller Winner, he was born on March 9, 1946 in Middletown, NY and attended Middletown Schools. Bud enlisted in the US Army Reserves and served his country for a total of 20 years. Bud was a great craftsman who ran his own construction business in Middletown. He was a well known carpenter in Middletown and left the impression of excellence after the job was done. His skill and dedication to his craft always earned him return business.
Bud was very generous and kind hearted and was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need .He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his deep affection for his grandchildren. His strong spirit will keep him in the hearts of those who loved him always.
He is survived by his sons, Kurt Winner and Edward Allen Winner and his wife Jennifer L., all of Middletown, beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Kacie and Kurt Winner, sister-in-law Eva Winner and former wife and friend, Margaret (Midge) Mooney, as well as nephews William Winner and Jerry Winner and his wife Tammy and several cousins.
Bud was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Dennis and Gerald and Kurt’s wife Doreen Winner in 2017.
Cremation was private. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Memorial Service with Military honors will be held at 5 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
