Carol Ann Peterson, a retired Assistant Branch Manager for Provident Bank in Blooming Grove, died on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 63.

The daughter of the late Josephine Muscarella and John Abbruzesse, she was born on February 9, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY. Carol married Dennis Peterson on November 8, 1969 in Brooklyn. In 1978, they moved to the area from Staten Island. Carol was a member of St. Anastasia’s Roman Catholic Church in Harriman.

Carol will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife and mother, doting grandmother and loyal friend. She loved to cook and travel. She was fiesty, strong willed and kind hearted. She took pride in her home and loved making it beautiful and comfortable for herself, family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband Dennis at home; her three children, Kelly Peterson at home, Scott and his wife Rebecca and Kristy Peterson, all of St. Petersburgh, FL. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Luca of Wurtsboro and sisters, Mary Nola and her husband Tom of Rock Hill and Patricia Russo and her husband Tony of Wurtsboro as well as three cherished grandchildren, Taylor Rose, Brooklyn Rose and Duval, nieces, JoAnn Schmitt, Ann Marie Kurthy, many grandnieces and nephews and her other daughter and devoted friend, Gina.

She was predeceased by one nephew, Robert “ Bob” Nola.

Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, August 27 and on Thursday, August 28 from 10 to 11 am at Applebee-Mcphillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Anastasia’s Church in Harriman. Burial will follow in the family plot in Seamanville Cemetery in Monroe, NY.

Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
