Formerly of Middletown, NY- Carmen "Nack" P. Perna, 95, died on Friday, March 24, 2023 at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 8, 1928 and was the son to the late John and Mae (Foglia) Perna. Carmen enlisted and served with the United States Navy shortly after WWII ended, and in 1951, he fought with our country during the Korean War until he was discharged in 1952, earning a victory medal. Carmen spent over thirty years educating kids as an Industrial Arts Teacher in Washingtonville, NY. Carmen was the beloved husband to the late Eleanor Hopkins who died in February of 1980, and raised three beautiful children together. While living in New York for many years, he was active with the Woodmen of the World United Commercial Travelers Club in Newburgh, NY. He also belonged to the American Legion Post#151, Veterans of Foreign Wars #692, and the Elks Lodge #1097 all of Middletown, NY. Carmen continued his community service in Florida as a Mason with the 15th district Low-12 club which is the Friendship Masonic Lodge #136 of Dunnellon, as well as the Inverness Elks Lodge# 2522, and the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church. He truly loved fellowshipping with many different people and helping others throughout his life with all of the various civic organization's he was involved with. In the midst of his life moving forward after Eleanor died, he met his present wife Louise, whom he married on March 25, 1983. They spent many years enjoying one another with countless memories. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Louise Perna; his son, Christopher Perna (Lisa), Campbell Hall, NY; his daughters, Valarie Perna, Poughkeepskie, NY and Ellen Borrero (Victor), Middletown, NY; his stepdaughters, Linda Jasper (David), Dallas, TX, and Wanda Rogers, Plant City, FL; his sister, Barbara Illenberg, Palerno, CA; his grandchildren, Nicholas Yeadon, Christian Yeadon, Anthony Borrero, Andrea Borrero, Brittney Rogers-Allen, Sean Jasper and Stephanie Jasper, Aubry Catalano, Casey Trotta, his great grandchildren, Ryker, Hailey and Camden Catalano; and many nieces and nephews.
