Carmen Andrez, loving wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and matriarch of her family, died on December 30, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Olga Kraft Collings, she was born on July 10, 1930 in Marseilles, France. Carmen spent her lifetime immersed in music and was a fervent singer. She was a deeply spiritual woman who loved her Lord and was a life long member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a strong woman both physically and emotionally and served as the backbone for her entire family. She liked watching television, especially religious shows, but she also enjoyed soap operas and game shows like the Price is Right and Jeopardy.
Carmen is survived by her son, Peter A. Andre and his wife Theresa of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and her four daughters; Shirley Moscardi of Carmel, NY, Lysanne Fowler and her husband Robert of Massena, NY, Yolande Koenigstein of Walden, NY, and Mimi Andrez of Middletown. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Peter, Daniel, Joseph, Jennifer, Vincent, Ashley, Rachel, Sarah, Matthew, and Megan and 14 great-grandchildren, Nikko,Sophia,Mikayla,Mia,Elaina,Daniel,Jack,Emily,Nicholas,Gianna,Peter,Emma,Lincoln and James. In addition to her husband and her parents, Carmen was predeceased by one daughter, Marilyn Rosenthal on February 14, 1999.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, January 6, 2017 Seventh Day Adventist Church, 70 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Pastor Victor Dyman will officite. Burial will follow in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
