Obituary for Carmela Wagner
Carmela Gentile Wagner, age 69, died February 2, 2021 from complications related to Covid-19.
Carmela was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 3,1951, daughter of Charlotte and Gino Gentile, residents of Middletown, sister of John and Dino Gentile, who survive her, and the late Benny Gentile.
Carmela married Richard Wagner on October 21,1972. She was predeceased by Richard in April 2020. Carmela leaves two daughters, Sara Wagner of Canton, CT and Rachael Mahoney of Old Greenwich, CT and four grandchildren. Carmela was predeceased by her son Seth in 2007.
Carmela could be described as passionate and full of life. She loved to eat good food, shop, and travel to tropical locations. Her sense of humor was always-on and her quick wit could make anyone laugh. She possessed a love of classic cars which she shared with her grandson Kaleb. Her artistic abilities were apparent with all the videos she created for her family; she shared this creative talent with her granddaughter GIna. She loved good music and taught her grandchildren some classic rock songs; her grandson Finn can still be heard singing, "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. She was fortunate to spend time with her grandson Rory before her passing.
Carmela centered her life around her family because she loved her friends and family more than anything. She would especially light up around her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil. Carmela was strong in spirit and could help her children accomplish anything. She passed her grit and love of life down to her children.
A small graveside memorial will be held Thursday April 22nd at 2pm at the Gentile Family plot at Wallkill Cemetery on Phillipsburg Road in Middletown under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
