Carmela M. Schnabel

Carmela M. Schnabel passed away Thursday July 14, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She
was 80 years old. The daughter of the late Michael and Frances Rizzo, she was born February 6, 1942 in
Bronx, NY.
Carmela was devoted to making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. She worked for ARC
which is now the ARCGHVNY. Carmela could always be found in the evening at the latest BINGO game
with her girls.
Carmela is survived by her son Richard, her daughter Lizabeth Rizzo, her son - in - law Anthony Rizzo
and her son Robert and his wife Caryn. She is also survived her grandchildren, Heather (Matt), Anthony
(Jenna), Christopher, Vincent and Carly. She is also survived by her brothers Joseph Rizzo (Kathy) and
Michael Rizzo. She was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, and her sister-in-law Margaret Rizzo.
Carmela was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The most important thing to Carmela was her
family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a woman of pure
determination and integrity. Carmela will be missed by all that knew her.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Orange/Sullivan Inc. or ARCGHVNY.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation that will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 11:00 Am to 2:00 Pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highlane Ave Middletown, NY
A funeral service will be immediately following at the funeral home at 2:00 Pm and interment will be in the Bloomingburg Cemetery, Bloomingburg NY
