Bridget Boland nee McHugh, a retired nurse and homemaker, died with family at her bedside on Independence Day, July 4th in St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y. She was 94.
The daughter of Patrick and Bridget Creamer McHugh, she was born in Leitrum, Ireland on February 1, 1924. She was one of nine children. She was always proud of her Irish heritage, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She married Daniel B. Boland on New Years’s Eve in 1950 and together they raised five children.
Bridget is survived by her five children and their families: Loretta Crotty and her husband Kevin, Daniel Boland and his wife Diane, Bernadette Kennedy and her husband Martin , Paul Boland, and Patrick Boland. She was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and adored her 16 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Phyllis living in England, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 2013.
Visitation and services for Bridget will be held on Tuesday, July 10 from 9 until 10:30 am at the funeral home and with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage St. Middletown, N.Y. Bridget’s cousin, Fr. John McKenna will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
