Billie Ross Meyer, age 99, passed away in Middletown, NY on November 5,2010.
Born on July 14, 1911 in Park Hill, OK, Billie Ross was a great-great-greatgranddaughter of John Ross, Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
She had a love of history that led her to a career in teaching and a lifetime of reading and sharingher vast knowledge. Until the end, she valued her independence as she still droveher car, lived at home on her own, and enjoyed her yard work, cooking,needlepoint, and especially playing bridge with her friends.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Douglas; 2 sisters: Curtis andMary; and 2 brothers: Charles and Bob.
Survived by 3 daughters: Mary, Leslie, and Billie; 7 grandchildren, 5great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, andcousins.A strong, talented, and amazing woman, Billie touched many lives. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 2PM on November 20, 2010 at Webb HortonPresbyterian Church in Middletown, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggeststhat contributions be sent to the John Ross Scholarship Fund, NE State University, Tahlequah, OK 74464.
