Biagio Lombardo, a resident of Middletown since 2000 and a retired chef, died on May 19, 2021. He died peacefully, surrounded by his devoted family. He was 85 years old.
The son of Salvatore and Maria Manera Lombardo, he was born on August 24, 1935 in San Marco, D’Alunzio, Italy.
He married the love of his life, Rosa Ribaudo in Italy and together they immigrated to America in 1961. They settled in the Bronx and moved to Middletown in 2000.
He made a good living for his family as a restaurant chef and was known for his culinary talents. He lived to cook and often experimented with new and unusual dishes for his family and grandsons to enjoy. Biagio and Rosa were a lifelong romantic story, who devoted their lives to each other. They celebrated sixty years of marriage last year. Theirs was a true story about the enduring power of love, setting an incredible example for his grandsons.
Biagio was a kind and gentle man who cherished his family, and left a beautiful legacy caring and cooking for his grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife Rosa, at home, and his only son Richard and his wife Gina of Campbell Hall, New York; his beloved grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” and Steven Lombardo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Basilio and sister Adalina.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
