Obituary for Beverly Mita

Beverly J. Mita of Pine Island, NY died Thursday, January 9th, 2025 in her home. She was 82.

The daughter of late Barney and Clara Porpora, Beverly was born January 1st, 1943 in Bronx,

NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Mita, in 2017 and her sister, Josephine

Porpora in 2013.

Beverly was a longtime front end supervisor of Price Chopper in Middletown, NY. Previously

she worked as a bookkeeper at Friendly’s in Middletown and as a tax professional at H and R

volunteered with number of organizations including the Wallkill Senior organization, serving as

their president for many years, with Literacy Volunteers of America, and as a Sunday School

Teacher. Beverly was also a poll worker for the Town of Wallkill. Beverly was a constant

creator and crafter. She was always looking for her next creative endeavor including creating

her daughter’s wedding gown and installing a picket fence in her kitchen. Those close to

Beverly have many keepsakes that she created for them as gifts. She could be found in her

kitchen baking and cooking for her family and friends. She created incredible meals and baked

goods that nourished both the body and soul. Everyone who knew her was touched by her

kindness and generosity. She was always putting the needs of others before herself. She was

the longtime caregiver for her husband, Richard. Beverly and Richard also served as foster

parents. Beverly is fondly remembered as constantly having a warm home, book, and a cup of

coffee.

Milling and her husband Robert of Liberty, NY; and Joseph Mita and his wife Amanda of Pine
