Obituary for Bernadette Memmelaar
Our beloved Bernadette, “Bernie”, died after a brief illness in the early morning on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. She was a young 82 years old.
The daughter of Arthur and Agnes Ruitenberg Dross. she was born in Patterson, N.J. on December 30, 1938. Bernie married Albert Memmelaar and together they raised three sons ;Al, Brian ( Chuck )and Kenny.
Bernie was an attractive woman who took much joy in her family. Her boys were the sunshine of her life. They all benefitted from her domestic abilities, her cooking, caring and cleanliness. She kept a tidy home and was a welcoming hostess. She had a flair for fashion and always looked great! She was a lifelong Yankee fan. Her adoration for the team stemmed from sitting in the bull pen with the team as a child because her dad was a close friend of Whitey Ford.
Bernadette is survived by her son Kenneth Memmelaar of Goshen, her cherished grandchildren; Matthew, Jacob, Austin, Katelynn and Alysha She was predeceased by her husband Al, her sons Albert and Brian as well as a sister, Beverly Kowalczyk and brother Arthur Dross.
Bernie was beautiful inside and out. She loved life and we are sure that leaving this world is sadder for us than it was for her because she was met at the heavenly gates by her beloved Big Al, Alvie and Brian.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Rd. Goshen, N.Y.
