Barclay Briggs, Jr., a longtime resident of the area and owner of Briggs Trucking, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2021 at Garnet Regional Health Center. He was 75.
The son of Barclay Briggs and Anna DeCastro, he was born on January 2, 1946 in Portsmouth, R.I.
Barclay was a farmer at heart and was always busy. He was an independent businessman who could be counted on to always get the job done. He believed in old fashioned values, hard work, showing up for friends and being responsible. He had a great sense of humor, loved his trucking friends and their children.
He is survived by his beloved wife Minnie; his sons, Scott and Brian, brothers Daniel (Meredith), William (Suzanne) and Gregory, his sisters Susan (Alfred) Wallace, Cherie (Charles) Sanborn and Linda Boyden.
He is further survived by his stepson Marcos and his wife Sarah Locke, and his
stepdaughter Sarah Locke;
his step-granddaughters; Naomi, Grace and Emma and 13 nieces and nephews; Marcia Couture, Julie Fernando, Bekki Licciardi, Bruce Wallace, Kevin, Dana, Bradley Briggs,
Holly, Leigh and Gary Sanborn , Kimberly McCabe, Jeffrey Boyden and Jillian Autry.
He was predeceased by his step-son Aaron Locke, niece Sarah Briggs and nephew Glenn Briggs.
Visitation will be held on (today) Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service of Remembrance at 4:00 p.m.
An Inurnment Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place on Saturday June 12, 2021, at 1 pm, in the Briggs Family Cemetery in Deerfield, NH.
