Barbara M. Hickey

Barbara Marie Hickey of Middletown, died peacefully following a long illness on August 28, 2021 at her home in the Town of Wallkill. She was 74 years old.
The daughter of the late George and Frances Wall Archer, Barbara was born on April 4, 1947 in Yonkers, NY. Barbara married Ronald Hickey and together they raised seven children.
Barbara was always an inspiration to her family and friends. A strong woman, who dedicated her life, love and time to her family and friends. Barbara had a special love for her fur babies, especially Buddy, Bounce and Sam. She loved entertaining, baking, cooking, crafts, playing bingo, rummikub and spending time with her friends.
Barbara was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her six children and their families; Colleen Archer, Kelly Bourke, Ronald Hickey, Brian Hickey and his wife Cher, Thomas Hickey and his wife Jordan, and Kevin Hickey.
Her beloved grandchildren are Brian Sukowaski and his wife Erin, Danielle Toucedo and her husband Paul, Shane Sukowaski and his wife Kelsey, Katie Bourke, Gavin Bourke and Brendan Hickey.
Her treasured great-grandchildren are Alexander, Nicolas and Michael Toucedo, Brian, Joseph, and Declan Sukowaski and Zane Sukowaski. She will also be missed by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Paul Archer, her husband Ronald, and daughter Lori.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
Cremation was private and arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange County along with our mother’s friends at the Wallkill Living Center especially Maria and Rosa.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
