Obituary for Barbara Clark McGlade
Barbara Clark McGlade, a retired Supervisor for GTE (now Frontier) died unexpectedly at Orange Regional Medical Center on July 12, 2017.
Barbara was born to Earl Jesse Van Inwegen and Florence Rose Jones on January 20,
1932 in Yonkers, New York.
She was loving, kind and generous to all. Mom enjoyed shopping 24/7 but her Saturday shopping with Valerie and Taylor brought her the most joy. She enjoyed many hours of “surfing” the net to keep up with her family and friends. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or life event. She adored her entire family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Clark and his wife, Christine of Leesburg, Florida, Daughter, Valerie Matuszewski and husband Michael of Middletown, New York; Son James Clark and wife Tamilyn H. of Inwood, West Virginia, her sister Pat Diffendale of Amsterdam, New York; Brother-in-law, Walt Saunders of Rochester, New York and Brother and Sister-in law, Jimmy and Karen Clark of Nutley, New Jersey. Grandchildren; Mike Matuszewski, Jr., Erika Matuszewski, Nicole Clark, Jessica and husband Chris Woods, Danny Clark, “Adopted Grandchildren”; Kimberly Ferguson, Shawn Hogan and Deanna Sims; Great Grandchildren; Taylor Hogan, Michael Matuszewski III, Kelsee Wood, Trevor and Macy Lewis, Carson and Payton Woods.
She is also survived by Dear friends Dottie Tompkins, Jack and Darlene Hinton, Lois Behrent, Carol Lake, Abigail Benedict, Beverly and Bob Hicks, Merilee George and “Adopted sons and daughters”; Susan and Tom Lapertosa, Rick and Cheryl Matuszewski, Linda and Jerre Coleman, Barbara and Chuck Kwiecinski, Diane and Floyd Durland, Jeanette and Daniel Hinton. Others that call her “Grandma Barb”are Shawn Matuszewski, Keirstin Nywening, Kaela Rivera, Tony and Danielle Lapertosa, Brooke, Symone and Chase Hinton. Also other family members, too many to list. Her caring neighbors, Billy and Julie Hallinan who did everything for “Mom’ on a daily basis. She loved them both so much!
Barbara is predeceased by four sisters; Florence Lordy, Jane Grabon, Gloria Tyson, and June V. Saunders. Two brothers, Earl and Allan Van Inwegen. Her husbands, Fred W. Clark, Ed McGlade and her cherished son “Tommy.”
Donations can be made in Barbara’s Name to Suicide Prevention Awareness in memory of her son Tommy.
Visitation will take place on Sunday July 16 at Applebee-Mcphillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, New York from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017. Burial will follow in the family plot in Pine hill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
