Obituary for Assunda "Susan" Kraich
Assunda B. "Susan or Sue" Kraich of Slate Hill, NY died on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Westchester Medical Center following a short illness. She was 84.
Born on August 15, 1938 in New York, NY, Susan was the last surviving child of nine born to the late Silvestro and Lucia Mazzella. She grew up in the Bronx, and married Michael Kraich. She moved to Ramsey, NJ and eventually settled in Slate Hill 10 years ago. Susan was very spiritual, and loved her family, travel and her dogs. She liked playing scrabble, and listening to the news, especially politics. She was a member of the Slate Hill Pacers Senior Club.
Susan is survived by her three sons, Andrew and his wife Diane of Uxbridge, MA, Robert of Londonderry, NH, Chris of New Hampton and her daughter, Lucy Barilla and her husband Fred of Long Island. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Lacie, Emma, Carrie, Michael and his wife Melissa, Chelsea and her husband Steven and their children, Everley and Elliote, Krista, Christopher, Joshua, Frank, Katy and Freddie, many nieces and nephews and her best friend, her dog Coco.
She was predeceased by her parents, her son Michael on March 8, 1989, and husbands Michael Kraich and William Epp.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 626 Co. Rt 22, Middletown, NY 10940. Fr. Michael Pallazzo will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
