Arthur “Gene” Brigham of Greenville, NY, died on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA. He was 72 years old.
The son the the late James Ira and Dorothy Mitterwager Brigham, he was born in Damascus, PA on April 2, 1938.
Gene was raised in the Middletown area and graduated from Middletown High School with the class of ’56.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley and was a proud sponsor of the Minisink Valley Wrestling Scholarship. Gene was an avid wrestling fan. He loved baseball, sharing his enthusiasm with his grandson, Zachary. He had many fond memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers . He was an All-Star pitcher in local area softball leagues.
Gene worked as a TA at the Middletown Psychiatric Center for 20 years. He had a theraputic rapport with his patients. He had a great sense of humor. His real passion was home construction which he began soon after his graduation from high school and continued until just before his death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Jean and daughters, Sarah at home, and Sheri Nicholson and her husband John of Culpeper, VA.,his son, Steve and his wife Michele of Westtown, NY. He is further
Survived by his brother James and his wife Mary Jane of Unionville, NY, sisters; Phyllis Starnes and her husband Chuck,of McCaysville, GA, Rita Morgiewicz of Pine Island, NY and Joyce Creighton, DelRay Beach Fla.
He leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Zachary and Kimberly Nicholson and Courtney Brigham and his “girls” Lola and Avida.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-8 with an 8:00 Funeral Service of Remembrance.
