Arnold Brown
September 19, 1926-December 4, 2014
Gouldsboro, PA
Arnold Brown, beloved father and grandfather, died on December 5, 2014 in Middletown, NY. He was 88.
He was born on September 19, 1926 outside of Albany, NY in Bunker Hill. Arnold proudly served in the Navy during WWII and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He graduated Cum Laude from Syracuse University on the GI bill. He made a career for himself at the home office of Equitable Life Insurance Company in New York, NY.
He worked his way through college by playing trumpet professionally. His love for the Big Band Era and Jazz lasted throughout his life. For pure enjoyment, he played trumpet with a variety of bands when he was well into his 70’s.
Arnold also delighted in gourmet cooking often spending hours in the kitchen perfecting a dish and relished sharing his recipes. He appreciated finding great places to eat and gathering up his good friends to explore new eateries.
Known as Grandpa and Honey to his grandchildren, his greatest love was his family, especially his granddaughters, Becky, Allie, Kelly and Katie. He was very proud of each and every one. Arnold and Sandra moved to Gouldsboro to enjoy their senior years and built the home of their dreams.
A word of thanks to Junice Markovits who lovingly shared her home with Dad during his final days.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Brown and his wife Vicky, their children Kelly and Katie of Severna Park, MD; his daughter, Robin Markovits and her husband Sam and their children, Rebecca and Alexandra of Middletown, NY; brother, Neil Brown and his wife Marilyn and Don Brown and his wife Fran.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra, both of whom were devout Catholics.
