Antonio Mastria of Middletown NY, died suddently on Sunday October 18 at ORMC Horton Campus. He was 77.
The son of the late Antonio and Caterina Parrottina Mastria he was born on January 12, 1932 in Magisano, Italy. Antonio married Elvira Corea in Italy and they moved to the United States together in 1970. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Middletown and worked as a mason until his retirement.
He was a loving husband and father who always had a smile. A generous man with a big heart, he was everyone's friend. He loved gardening and playing cards with his family and friends. His family was very dear to him, but his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his loving wife, Elvira, at home, he is survived by his three sons, Nello and his wife Ruth Ann of Sunnyvale, CA, Nicola and his wife Filomena of Middletown and Rosario and his wife Jodee of New Hampton; and his daughter Caterina Cassano and her husband Vincenzo; two sisters, Carmela and Assunta Mastria both of Italy; and his beloved grandchildren, John, Tony, Victoria, Tony and Nicole, Antonio and Eva Marie, Antonio and Cassandra; brother-in-law Pietro and Maria Corea, sister-in-law Antonietta Macri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers Nicola and Salvatore and two sisters Maria and Giuseppina.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday October 22, 2009 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church., 113 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Middletown.
