Obituary for Antonio Cortese
Antonio Cortese, a three year area resident, formerly of the Bronx, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 72 years old.The son of the late Domenico and Maria Cosco Cortese, he was born on July 1, 1934 in Calabria, Italy. Antonio worked for Our Lady of Mercy in the Bronx for 22 years.A family statement reads: "Antonio was a hard working and God loving man. He adored his family and was delighted with his seven grandchildren."He is survived by wife of 45 years, Maria at home; two sons, Domenico Cortese and his fiancé, Maria Teresa of Washingtonville, and Peter Cortese of Middletown; two daughters, Maria Cortese Santana and her husband, Angel of Middletown and Raffaela Cortese Lucero and her husband, Margarito of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Christina, Michael, Daniel, Anthony, David and Andrew; one brother, Mario and his wife, Jennie of Florida; one sister, Rosa Gesualdo of Calabria, Italy.He was predeceased by three siblings: Raffaele, Luciano, and Maria.Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 10:45 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown.Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
