Obituary for Anthony Martini
Anthony "Tony" Martini, a lifetime Middletown resident passed peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 70.
The son of the late Anthony and Emma Egan Martini, Tony was born on December 6, 1949 in Middletown. He attended Middletown Schools and was a 1967 graduate of MHS. Following graduation, Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1986, he married Violetta Dedaj.
Tony worked for Sears and Roebuck as a salesman for many years in Middletown. Later he joined the Town of Wallkill Police Department and served his community for over 20 years. As a Police Officer, Tony was able to help others, something that came naturally to him.
He was a handyman who could fix anything and he rebuilt his 100 year old house on his own. He was also a talented musician who played both guitar and bass and had a beautiful singing voice. Tony had a great sense of humor and a unique personality that made him a wonderful friend to have. He was a true Beatles fan who appreciated all of their music. Tony enjoyed frequenting all of the local car shows with his award winning 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT. He was sometimes mistaken for one of his favorite actors, Sam Elliot, and in the recent past he was even asked for his autograph.
In addition to his devoted wife of 34 years, Tony is survived by his two sons, Anthony and Vincent at home and his two sisters, Antoinette Belfiglio and her husband Sal and Viola Martini, all of Middletown, several nieces, nephews and cousins and tons of good friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial with Military honors will follow in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
