Obituary for Anna Marie Abbamonte
Anna Marie Abbamonte, an educator and longtime resident of Orange County, died on June 3, 2021 at home with her family at her side. She was 86.
The daughter of Joseph Arcuri and Mary Gianni, she was born in Brooklyn on November 17, 1934. She married Robert Abbamonte on November 16, 1954. He predeceased her on November 30, 2010.
Anna was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus R.C. Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, taught C.C.D. for over 30 years, was a member of the Rosary Society, and was always available for anyone in need.
Anna retired in 1996 from the New York Stare public school system where she was a Special education teacher. She had an amazing work ethic and a heart of gold. Her true joy and legacy was her family.
She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Gau (John Smith), Gerianne Winkeleer (Mike), Joseph Abbamonte (Ann Marie), Frank Abbamonte (Lilly), Loving grandchildren: Geralynn Winkeleer (Christopher Stuart), Samantha Gau (Joseph Rivera), Jamie Geiselman (Collin), Lilly Abbamonte, Danielle Winkeleer, Alyssa Gau (Christopher Ferrelli), and Frankie Abbamonte. Great-grandchildren, Shane and Jordan Stuart.
Anna Marie requested no visitation, but a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus R.C. Church, 45 Highland Ave., Otisville, NY on Tuesday, June 8th, at 12 noon, with Rev. Fr. Michael Palazzo officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery in the family plot.
