Anna Maria Siena, a longtime Middletown resident, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 77 years old.
The daughter of Rosina and Antonio Roviglio, she was born in San Valentino, Salerno Province in Italy on July 25, 1935. She immigrated to the United States in 1973 and besides raising and supporting a family, worked as a seamstress and coatmaker at Calvert Coat for many years. She was a wonderful cook-always preparing meals for the family and friends. Her food not only nourished, but instilled the tradtions of her culture and connected her entire extended family and friends, as well as the many people she fed at her son Neal's pizzeria during the 16 years she worked there. She will be greatly missed and we will cherish her many talents and gifts she left to all of us. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giuseppe Siena.
She is survived by her loving children, Lucy Fratto and her husband, Vinny, John and his wife, Rosa, and Neal, all of Middletown; beloved grandchildren, Neal Siena, Vincenzo Fratto and John Siena, Eluisa and her husband, Richard Callanan, Rosanna and her husband, Kevin O'Connell, Giuseppe and his wife, Deanna Siena;Â one brother, Carmine; sisters, Lucia Siena and Teresa; and sister-in-law, Michalina Fabi and her husband, Mario and Nunziata Santiniello; and four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Sofia, Kevin and Vincent; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
