Anna B. Romano of Middletown NY, died on Thursday March 22 at Orange Regional Medical Center Middletown, NY. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Romolo and Antoinette Romano, she was born on March 10, 1922. Anna worked as a Transit Detective for New York City Police Department, she was one of the first female detectives in New York City. She moved from the Bronx in the 1970s and became an active member of St. Joseph's Parish in Middletown. She was a dedicated Catholic who was very involved in her church, church activities and her family. She was a very caring woman who took care of her parents in her adult life. She had a great sense of humor and was affectionately known to her family as "Aunt Nan".

Anna is survived by two nephews, Nicholas and his wife Joann

and Ronald and his wife Mary Ann. She was Great Aunt to Jessica, Nicholas, Christopher and Justin, and Sister-in-law to Rose Romano, the wife of her late brother, Nicholas A. Romano.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, March 25th at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11 am at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, NY. Fr. Dennis Nikolic will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
