Ann L. Schlaffer, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on March 1, 2013 at Middletown Park surrounded by her family. She was 90.
The daughter of the late Gasper and Maria Serena Arcabascio, she was born on November 15, 1922 in Manhattan. Ann married Rudloph Schlaffer and worked as an assistant manager at Bloomingdales in NYC for 23 years. Ann was a strong woman who loved kids. She was always very stylish and had the best of clothes for her self and her children. Ann was a great mom and was an active member of her church, St. Rita’s in Queens.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria D’Amico and her husband Edward and Arlene Mulvey and erh husband Dennis all of Middletown; her five grandchildren, Marc, Jennifer, Christine, Danielle and Brian; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Brianna and Liam; and one sister-in-law Evelyn of Levittown, NY.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph in 1999, her siblings, Frank, Jean, Phyllis, Francis, Angelo and Joseph.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm today, Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY, 10940. Ann will be buried with her husband Rudolph at Calverton National Cemetery following the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
