Angelo T. Monaco
July 5, 1950 – September 20, 2017
Montgomery, NY
Angelo Monaco, a beloved husband and father, entered into eternal rest on September 20, leaving his family and friends to mourn his untimely and unexpected death.
He was born on July 5, 1950, the son of Frank Monaco and Lena Torre in Middletown. A longtime resident of the area, he graduated from MHS in 1968 and received his associate’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He married the love of his life, Anna Verlezza, in 1977.
Angelo was a man who benefited from many God given talents. He was full of passion and energy; starting out with a band in his teens called “The Automations.” He was an avid radio and electronics expert and ham radio enthusiast. Known by many as “Mr. Marconi” and “Frequency,” he became a professional audio sound systems engineer, and a respected craftsman and business man. Angelo was an “angel” to everyone around him and embraced and enjoyed life on all levels, in particular his family, and he loved traditions and bringing everyone together.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and brother Frank, and is survived by his loving wife, Anna, at home, his daughter, Carla Monaco Blondin and husband Joseph, of New York City; a cherished newborn grandchild, Lorenzo Josephangelo Blondin; a sister, Sandy Traver and husband Bill of Cuddebackville; a mother-in-law, Letizia Verlezza of Newburgh; and a brother-in-law, Sabatino Verlezza and his wife Barbara, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a community of friends from all walks of life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY from 2 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
