Middletown, NY

Angelo Mario Colantuono, son of Angelo and Lena Colantuono, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 79.

He is survived by his wife Patty of 55 years, his children, Cynthia and her significant other Sean; Marc and wife Lori and his beloved grandchildren, Erin and her husband Patrick, Jacob, Nicole and Joey. One of nine children, he is also survived by his sisters, Theresa, Clem, Marlene and Molly; and his bother, Carmen.

He was predeceased by his sister Rosemarie, and brothers, Frank and Vincent.

He was a 1952 Maybrook High School graduate and proudly served in the US Navy. He was a conductor/brakeman for Conrail for over 30 years. He was an avid member of the Middletown Elks Club BPOE #1097- he chaired many functions. His favorite activity there was Bingo, which he chaired for over 20 years. He was proud to be a three year delegate at the State Convention at the Concord and was chosen as Elk of the Year. Angleo was a devoted and loving husband and dedicated father and grandfather. He was a great provider, loved volunteering and his sudden passing will sadden the many friends he leaves behind. A family statement reads, “When God made Angelo, He threw away the mold. Rest in peace, we will always love you, my darling”.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Applebee—McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s R.C. Cemetery in Middletown.
