Andrew "Andy" Pierpoint, a lifetime Middletown resident, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Middletown Park Manor after a long illness. He was 42.
The son of Charles Pierpoint of Goshen and Shirley Crane of Kansas, he was born on May 13, 1968 in Goshen. Andy graduated from MHS in 1986 and married Brenda Romer of Middletown. Before his illness he was employed as a fork-lift operator, a yard foreman, and worked part-time for H&R Block. Andy was a passionate bowler at Middletown Lanes. He could light up a room with his infectious smile.
He fought a long, hard battle in life, and now he rejoices and rests in the hands of God.
He is survived by both of his parents, his daughter, Laura Jennifer Pierpoint of California; sisters Margie Sullivan of Alaska and Samantha Wanamaker and her husband Gary of Missouri; half-brother Patrick Pierpoint of Goshen, grandmother Genevieve Crane of Kansas. Andy is also survived by his uncle Charles Crane and his wife Marie of Pottersville, PA and Uncle George Pierpoint and his wife Ineka of White Plains, Step-mother Patty Wiley of Goshen, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Middletown Park Manor, especially his devoted nurse Laura, for the compassionate care given to Andy during his illness. They would also like to express their appreciation for Hospice of Orange and Sullivan
Counties for the incredible support they have provided in the last five months.
Services for Andy will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home,
Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm and a funeral service will be held at 6 pm Thursday. Cremation will be private at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
