Andrea E. Dory March 29, 1939-May 1, 2013 Goshen, NY
Andrea E. Dory, a former resident of the Bronx and recently of Goshen, died on May 1, 2013 at Elant at Goshen. She was 74.
The daughter of the late John A. and Catherine M. Dory , she was born on March 29, 1939 in Manhattan. Andrea was trained as a Registered Nurse at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing School on Staten Island. She was a nun of the Carmelite Order for the Aged and Infirmed for 14 years. Andrea later worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in both Houston and the Bronx.
She was extremely generous, and deeply spiritual. Family was extremely important to her. She cared very much for her friends and was a link to her cousins within the family. Andrea’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Elant on Paff 3 for the excellent care they provided to her.
Andrea is survived by her two sisters, Cathleen Powers of Middletown and Paula Dory of Highland Falls and one brother Peter of Poughkeepsie; a sister-in-law, Mary of Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews, Timothy, Matthew, Andrew, Brian, Frances, Billy, Danny, Gerard and Jackie and two great nephews and one great niece; a dear friend, Luann Reason and family and several cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Marian and one brother, Bill and a sister-in-law, Olga.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.Burial will follow in the family plot in Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island.
