Alyssa Nicole Marino, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on January 14, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 20 years old.

The beloved daughter of Joe Marino and Kimberly Day , she was born on July 23, 1992 in Middletown, NY. Alyssa attended Pine Bush schools and graduated from Pine Bush High School in 2010. Alyssa was a special creation of God. Everyone who met her, loved her. She endured many treatments and procedures throughout her life as a result of cystic fibrosis and always remained courageous. She loved Tim Burton, tattoos and had her own artistic vision. She was an individual who was ahead of the curve. She enjoyed social media and was even called the “Facebook Cop” by her Dad, she defended and protected her sister and friends. She was able to touch many lives throughout the country due to her diagnosis. Alyssa will be remembered as a strong and spiritual young woman whose everyday life presented her with challenges most of us would not be able to imagine.

She is survived by her devoted father, Joe at home and her mother, Kimberly of Phoenix AZ; sister Alexandrea ; brother Thiago Fermanian of Phoenix; grandparents, Elaine R. Marino of Middletown, Dominic and Jean Marino of Forestburg, Jane York of Washingtonville, Bruce and Della Day of Ohio; three Aunts, Stacy Giannetto and her huaband Michael, Elaine Marino and Jeanne Marino all of Middletown; Godfather, Michael Emond; and cousins Ella and Demi Giannetto, and her boyfriend, Brian Wynne.

She was predeceased by her infant brother, Anthony in 1998.

Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 17 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Cremation will be private. Memorial contributions in Alyssa’s name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2975 Westchester Ave. Purchase, NY 10577,
