Obituary for Alyssa Marie DeGennaro
Alyssa Marie DeGennaro
March 27, 1989 – May 27, 2021
Fort Worth, TX

Alyssa DeGennaro passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at her place of residence in Fort Worth, TX. She was 32.

Alyssa was born in Middletown, NY, on March 27, 1989. She had a bright and mischievous nature right from the start of her life. While this often got her into trouble, it also helped her forge many deep friendships everywhere she went: while growing up in Middletown; while completing high school and competing on the volleyball and track teams in Parsippany, NJ; as part of the state finalist volleyball team when she briefly attended Orange County Community College; and as she pursued her passion for massage therapy, having obtained her license in New Jersey, Nevada, and Arizona. She enjoyed spending the day at the beach with friends or family and singing loudly to her favorite songs; her bone-crushing hugs and boisterous laugh were famous among everyone who knew her. Although she had many struggles in her life and lost many dear friends and family along the way, it never affected her big heart and fierce love for everyone she cared about. Alyssa was working as a quality control technician in Fort Worth, TX, at the time of her passing. She will be dearly missed.

Alyssa is survived by her father, Keith DeGennaro, of Middletown, NY, and his wife, Michele; her mother, Sharon DeGennaro, of Ocala, FL; her sister, Nicole DeGennaro, of Chester, NY, and her wife, Christine; her grandfather, Thomas Boylan, of Ocala, FL; her aunt, Dariel DeGennaro-Woltz, of Westfield, NY, and her husband, Michael; her aunt, Ellen Bruzzone, of Tucson, AZ, and her husband, Richard; her stepsister, Amanda Rider, of Wappingers Falls, NY, and her husband, Scott; and her stepbrother, Philip Tobin, of Middletown, NY, and his wife, Miranda; as well as numerous cousins, six step-nieces and -nephews, and countless friends that Alyssa always treated as family.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Frank and Eleanor DeGennaro, of Middletown, NY; her maternal grandmother, Eleanor Boylan, of Ocala, FL; and her uncle, Douglas DeGennaro; as well as several close friends including Anna “Nardy” Vance and Andrew Guenste.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY, 10940.

Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www. applebee-mcphillips.com.
