Newburgh, NY

Alice Dickinson, co-founder and prior executive director of RDAC of Orange County, died on Monday, April 9, 2012 at her home in Newburgh following a long illness. She was 56.

The daughter of Geraldine Serra Hillegas and the late Eugene Hillegas, she was born on August 31, 1956 in Hazelton, PA. Alice was a spirited and strong individual who dedicated her life to helping others. She was a supportive and energetic friend to many as well as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the arts, politics and people. She lived her life fully and made an impact on those she touched. She will be remembered fondly and dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Thomas at home; her children, Faith her fiancé Keith, Dallas, Austin and Daniel with his wife Kate. Her step-Children Michael, Robert, Caitlin and her Husband Tom. She is also survived by her mother Geraldine, one brother Stanley and a sister Janine and her husband Carl and seven beautiful grandchildren that were her life Serra, Dakota, Colm, Alic, Ean, Alyssa and Savannah. Also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be private. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 am on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Memorial Service to celebrate Alice's Life will be held at 11 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Fr. John Horan, O. Carm., will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Alice's name may be made to either the Wallkill River School, 232 Ward Street, Montgomery, NY 12549 www.wallkillriverschool.com or the O.C. Land Trust, 10 Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY 10940 or www.oclt.org.
