Albert Hansen, a lifetime area resident died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 89.

Albert was born on July 23, 1924 in Middletown, to William Hansen and Gladys Hill-Hansen. After his mother Gladys died in 1926, his father married Ethel Casler-Hansen who raised Albert as her own son.

Albert was lifelong resident of Johnson where he ran a Diary farm. He specialized in raising Pure Bred Holstein Cattle, producing milk for consumer consumption. With select quality breeding, he was proud of his "show quality" cows, each one had a name fitting their personality. Albert liked horses but made better choices buying cows.

He was a member of the Elks Club, the Rutgers Fire Department in Johnson, NY, was a charter member and former president of the Minisink Valley Kiwanis Club and a former member and president of the Iroquois Hunting and Fishing Club.

Albert delighted in his grandchildren. He loved animals.  He had a passion for life and fun, and was noted for being the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. Later in life, he developed a passion for golf on the green and watching the 'masters" on t.v.

He is survived by his children, William Hansen wife Patricia, Karen Demarco husband Steve, Chris Berg husband Robert; grandchildren, Erik Berg, Kelsey Berg, Liam Hansen and Lara Hansen. He was predeceased by his brother Victor in 1930.

Cremation was private. Visitation will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Unionville Presbyterian Church, 38 Main St, Unionville, NY 10988. A Memorial Service will follow.

Memorial contributions in Albert’s name may be made to either ASPCA at aspca.org, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 or guiding-eyes.org, or the Alzheimers Foundation, 322 8th Ave # 700, New York, NY 10001 or alzfdn.org.

Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.

Cremation was private. Visitation will begin at 1 pm at Unionville Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 14, 2013 .A Memorial service will follow.
