Adelaide Pagan of Middletown, NY, passed away on January 11, 2022, at Albert Einstein Hospital in the
Bronx. She was born in the Bronx on December 6, 1945, to the late Wilson Pagan and Elva Y. Pagan. She
was the oldest of five children.
Adelaide graduated from Dodge Vocational High School and decided to join the workforce soon
afterward. After many years of working as a bookkeeper for various companies, she decided to go to
college and pursue a career as an educator. She attended Herbert H. Lehman College, where she
obtained her undergrad and master’s degree. Shortly after graduating from Lehman College, she began
her career as a teacher for the NYC Department of Education. In 2007, she retired from the NYC
Department of Education. In 2008, she relocated to Middletown, NY. She continued to help others by
volunteering at Horton Hospital and Orange County Regional Medical Center for ten years. She was a
member of Transformation Church in Middletown, NY, where she enjoyed participating in the church’s
various activities.
She is survived by her two loving children; her son, Michael Gonzalez and his wife, Nilser; her daughter
Anamarie Rivera; Her grandchildren, Emily A. Gonzalez, Isais Miranda, Ismael A. Ortiz, and Isabella A.
Ortiz; her sister, Margaret P. Hassler and her husband, William; her brothers, Wilson P. Pagan; Henry N.
Pagan and his wife Martha; and John D. Pagan and his wife, Judy. Many nieces, nephews, friends,
including two lifelong friends, Ana Vincenty and Yvonne Lebron. She is predeceased by her spouse, Luis
A. Pagan, and her parents.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at
the Transformation Church 160 Blumel Road, Middletown, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 10 AM at the Transformation
Church.
Burial will be at the Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown NY.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mikegonzalez2020
