ADAM PURICZ
December 24, 1922 - April 13, 2018

Adam Puricz, cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 13, 2018. He was 95.
The son of the late Domenicus and Anna Stefanovicz Puricz, he was born on December 24, 1922 in Buchovina, Romania. Before emigrating to the United States, he married his beloved wife, Barbara Rosalia Ernst, and spent 62 years as her husband until her death in 2014. He has dearly missed her every day since.
As a young teen, Adam apprenticed as a butcher, and later in life became a machinist, owning and maintaining his own businesses over the years. Adam could design, build, and fix anything. He had a quiet and unassuming nature, and loved all living creatures. He was a gifted farmer and gardener and grew the best roses and tomatoes. Adam loved the Lord Jesus Christ, was an excellent historian, and enjoyed a good political discussion. He was happy see his family’s future with the birth of his great-daughter two years ago.
He is survived by his four children: Wilhelm "Willy" Puricz of Sundown, NY, Rosemarie Puricz of Hewitt, NJ, Irene Puricz of Middletown, and Gerd Puricz and his wife, Keely of Sanford, NC. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren: Wilhelm Puricz and his wife, Girlie of Dumont, NJ, and Shelby and Kate Puricz of Sanford, NC. He was blessed to meet his great-granddaughter, Darla Mileva Puricz. He is also survived by his sisters, Marlen Tokar and Anna Pryzk of Canada, and his nieces and nephews: Elizabeth and Magrit (Germany), Roman and Zirka (Canada).
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Leopold, and sisters, Gisela Ackermann and Elsa Puharski and a nephew, Mike.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 18 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 75 Highland Ave., Otisville, NY 10963. Burial will follow in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery.
