Joseph L. Ferara of Middletown NY, died on Thursday December 17 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 69.

The son of Leonard and Mary Califano Ferara he was born on November 6, 1940 in Bronx, NY. .

The son of the late Leonard D. and Mary G. Califano Ferara, he was born on November 6, 1940 in the Bronx. A resident of the Middletown area since 1972, Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Middletown Elks Club. He was the proud owner of Nelson's Bar, which celebrated its 50th year as a family owned business this year. He insisted on having things done "the right way", but always kept his wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly he loved his kids and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his son, Leonard and his wife Christine and Patricia Roberts and her husband Isaiah and Rose Ferara, the mother of his children, all of Middletown. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Hogan of Newport-Ritchie, FL and his 6 beloved grandchildren, Kenneth, Elisha, Jessica, Joseph, Evan and Olivia.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11 am at Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph Giannoccaro Memorial Account, MPO Credit Union, 11 Center Street, Middletown, NY 10940 or to RECAP Food Pantry, P.O. 866, Middletown, NY 10940Funeral arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
