Wilma MacMahon O’Rourke passed away peacefully on May 17, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Palm Harbor, FL. She was 96 years old.
The daughter of the late Vincent Michael and Wilma Tarwater MacMahon, she was born on May 16, 1922 in Bronx, NY. She married Vincent O’Rourke, and she shared 62 years with him until his death in 2004. Wilma worked for Orange County Department of Social Services as a food stamps supervisor. She was a strong and nuturing mother, who always took care of those she loved.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown and an active member in her community for many years.
Wilma is survived by her children, Kathleen Shea and her husband Patrick of Palm Harbor, FL, Margaret Botti and her husband Peter of Goshen, Patricia Mulchahy and her husband James of Rochester, NY, Vincent O’Rourke and his wife Diana of Myrtle Beach, SC and Michael O’Rourke and his wife Jeannie of Staten Island; her brother Michael MacMahon and wife Marlene; her loving grandchildren, Timothy, Nicole, Erin, Peter, Maureen, Joseph, Christina, Jennifer, Samantha and Cara; and her 8 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Eileen Exiner and a granddaughter Kimberly Ann in 1997.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:30 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Following cremation, burial will follow in the family plot in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
