William A. Rebman, a longtime area resident, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 82.
The son of the late Charles and Barbara Schmidt Rebman, he was born on June 5, 1935 in Glendale, NY. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Ruthann Williams, on April 30, 1960 and they shared 57 years of marriage together. Bill worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 363.
Bill was a planning board member for the Town of Mt. Hope for 20+ years. He was a coach, umpire and board member for the Otisville little league baseball. Bill was a referee for Otisville Youth basketball well into his 70s. An avid NY sports fan, he loved the Mets, Knicks and Giants. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Most importantly, Bill was deeply devoted to his family.
In addition to his loving wife Ruthann, he is survived by his sons, James and wife Susan of Hudson, MA and Richard of Middletown, and his daughters, Linda Kruger and husband Dax of Otisville, and Karen Paglia and husband Marcello of Middletown. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kathryn, Joseph, Alicia, William, Darren, and Brianna and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sebastiano, Alexander and Ariel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am at St. Albert’s Chapel at National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Carmelite Drive, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombment with Military honors will follow in the family crypt in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.
Special thanks to Dr.s Strober and Perry and their staffs and to the Hidden Valley neighbors for all the loving care extended to Bill and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
