Obituary for Robert John Apko
Robert John Apko
November 26, 1944- July 5, 2017
Robert John Apko born in the Bronx, NY on November 26, 1944 to his parents John and Virginia Apko and entered into our loving Father’s arms on July 5, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was 72 years of age.
Robert was also known as Uncle Bob to all of us who loved him. He grew up in the Bronx, NY then lived with his family in Haworth, NJ moving to Northvale, NJ, and then lived the remainder of his life near his family in Middletown, NY. Bob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church with his mother and brother while living in Middletown, NY. Uncle Bob was loved by his family and brought joy to those who had ever spent time with him. He had a smile that would light up the room. His love for his family is a legacy that he has been passed on to his family as well as his caregivers at Ridgebury House. Uncle Bob’s great sense of humor made many family get to-gethers, times to cherish. His loving family that remains are his sister Joan Apko DeBeauvernet of Middletown, NY and brother Dennis Apko of Middletown, NY. Nephews and nieces include Michael & Chris DeBeauvernet of North Carolina, John & Kathy DeBeauvernet of Slate Hill, NY, Chris & Terri DeBeauvernet of Westtown, NY, and Robert & Lisa DeBeauvernet of Bloomingburg, NY. Uncle Bob has many great nieces and nephews including Maria, Dave, Nick, Bre, Ryan, Kasey, Anthony, Konnor, Angie, Brandon, Nikolas, Alexis, Courtney, Corinne, & Robert. He is also survived by 8 great-great nieces and nephews. Uncle Bob is predeceased by his parents Virginia & John Apko, his Uncle Ed Avery, his brother-in-law Adolph “Sonny” DeBeauvernet, and great-great nephew Gideon.
Our family is especially grateful to Ridgebury IRA House for taking such good care of our beloved Uncle Bob. Their love and care have helped him enjoy many good years. May God bless them all.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown NY, on Wednesday July 12, 2017 from 12-2. Directly following visitation Pastor Rustico of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate a brief service celebrating Bob’s life. Burial will be at Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery following service.
