Linda K (Kauffman) Hopkins
May 22, 1948 - May 12, 2018
Linda Hopkins, 69, of Summitville, NY passed away at Orange Regional Medical Center after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her beloved family as she drifted off to be with the Lord.
Linda was born and raised in Martinsburg, PA daughter of Levi Kauffman and Eva (Brumbaugh) Kauffman. After graduating from Central High School in 1966, she moved to Middletown, NY to attend nursing school. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Horton Hospital until 1985.
Linda loved her grandchildren beyond belief. They were the apples of her eyes. She was passionate about animals both big and small. She was known to have deer eating out of her hand on any given day. Linda knew no strangers. She would make conversation with everyone, everywhere she went.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Levi and Eva, daughter Mary Ann, and sister Audrey. Linda is survived by her husband Roy of Summitville; daughter Michelle (Brian) of Middletown, step-daughter Amanda(Kevin) of Alabama, step-son Greg of Middletown, son in law Steve of Montgomery , NY, grandchildren David(Gina) and Melissa of Middletown, NY, Caitlin and Ryan of Alabama; sisters Barbara (Ralph), Carol(Ted), Janet(Terry) all of Pennsylvania and brother David (Dorie) of Florida. Linda is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held May 31, 2018 at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown, NY from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Linda’s memory be made to ORMC Foundation/Oncology Unit, 707 East Main St. Middletown, NY 10940. The compassion and care given to both Linda and her family in the oncology unit was insurmountable .
