Kim Lorraine McGar Durland, a lifetime area resident, passed away on May 14, 2018 following a brief illness at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was only 58.
The daughter of Dorothy McGar Kardys and John Llewellyn McGar, Sr, she was born on December 23, 1959 in Middletown, NY. Kim was predeceased by her husband Scott Durland in 2005. She had resided in North Carolina with Scott. She moved back to NY six years ago to be closer to her family.
In addition to her mother, Dorothy Kardys and her husband Thomas Kardys, Sr of AZ, and her father John McGar, Sr. of Cuddebackville, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Jaime McGar of Westtown; brothers John McGar, Jr of Middletown and Michael McGar and his companion Kelly Jonigan of Bloomingburg; stepbrothers, Thomas and Brian Kardys along with several nieces and nephews; and her pride and joy, her beloved grandson, Maddox McGar. In addition to family, Kim leaves behind her longtime best friend, Sharee Wood and her family of Middletown.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Kim’s life will be held at the funeral home at 7 pm on Friday, Deacon Richard Tripani will officiate. Following cremation, burial will take place next to her husband in the family plot in Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
