Cindy Carter, a longtime area resident, died following a long illness at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, surrounded by her loving family. She was 59.
The daughter of the late Robert and Marilyn Leavy, Cindy was born on November 6, 1957 in Bethpage, NY. She married Kenneth A. Carter, and they shared decades of joyful marriage until his death on September 12, 2013. Cindy dedicated her life to raising her children and filling Ken’s life with love. Her energy and enthusiasm for life and love was felt by everyone she spent time with. She took pride in her work and was always meticulous. She befriended everyone and took pleasure in caring for those she loved. Cindy loved tending to her gardens and playing with her cats, but always focused most on her children and her husband.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Senning and her husband Ryan of City Island, Bronx, NY and Jonathan Carter and his wife Gabrielle of Arlington, VA; two brothers, Robert Leavy and his wife Yolanda of Middletown, Thomas Leavy- and his wife Kim of Long Branch, NJ and sister, Nancy Ellebracht and her husband Harry of Hackensack, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday November 5 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday November 6 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Highland Avenue, Otisville, NY 10963. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
