Anthony F. Paduch, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into eternal rest at his daughter’s home in Scotchtown with his loving family at his side. He was 92.

The son of the late Peter and Nellie Kobylarz Paduch, he was born on November 29, 1922 in Warwick, NY. He married Evelyn “Betty” McGar and they moved to Middletown to raise their family. Anthony was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and was a 50 year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 373 where he was employed as a superintendent. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Middletown, the Ontario Hose Company and the American Legion. He enlisted in the US Navy on January 8, 1942 and served in WWII and the Korean War where he earned many combat ribbons, the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with 3 Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal of Honor. He was inducted into the Purple Heart hall of Honor on September 23, 2007 and provided information about World War II in a documentary. A statement from the family reads: Dad was an avid outdoorsman and athlete who gave both his time and resources to those in need; especially St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Smile Train and many Christian organizations over the years as well as helping his friends and neighbors. His favorite hobby was flying airplanes as both a commercial and private pilot. Now he is hoping to play the “perfect” golf game in Heaven. We love you and miss you dearly.

Tony is survived by his two sons, Peter L. Paduch and his wife, Norma of Wurtsboro and Michael D. Paduch and his wife Rose of Middletown; and his two daughters, Pamela Willoughby and her husband Scott and Antonia “Toni” Vanders and her husband Ed, all of Middletown; his sister, Amelia Paduch Filip of Fairlawn, NJ; his grandchildren, Brian and Jeffrey Paduch and Amy Wood, Ashley Roth and her husband Brian, Bianca Staltare and her husband David, Taylor Paduch, William Vanders and his fiancé Sarah Griffin, Sean Weissert, Aaron, Jacob and Amanda Willoughby; his great-grandchildren, Devon, Logan and Kailyn Wood, Zoey Paduch, Greyson and Harlo Mae Roth and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn, as well as brothers, Ben, Jesse, John, and Stanley Paduch, sisters, Mary Kimiecik and Arlene Adams and one grandson, Ryan Weissert.
